26 imagesKristel Schneider, has conducted a photographic, conceptual and graphic quest around an ordinary subject, TREES. A subject so familiar that we often pass without really seeing it. For approximately 5 years she worked on this project that resulted in two exhibitions; VARIATIONS IN TREES & WITH TREES and her first published book - VARIATIONS IN TREES. It makes us discover the colours and subtle forms of the trees in her adopted Auvergne. Each image encourages the gaze to contemplation and the rhythm of the variations of nature. Exhibition partner: TIRAGEPRO, Design partner: DUNCAN BAUMBACH (Creative communication). BOOK ORDER - VARIATIONS IN TREES – (ENG/FR) VIA THE WEBSHOP.

52 imagesAfter VARIATIONS IN TREES, I was excited to explore a new subject. Strangely enough, my next project was right beside me the entire time, patiently waiting to be discovered. I am grateful that my adopted living area is such a rich source of inspiration for me. Every time I cross one of the local rivers and take a quick glance down, I am struck by its unique beauty. As usual, it was ‘the common’ that captured my interest. The river Allier, the lifeblood of the Auvergne landscape, stretching 425 km from South to North in the heart of France, became my latest inspiration. 16 imagesThis series of photographs is the continuation of the residence that KRISTEL SCHNEIDER carried out in 2022 on the Grand Site de France Les Deux-Caps. “Artist in Residence programme”, which was set up by the French region Pas-de-Calais. The exhibition, entitled “DOUBLE VUE (DOUBLE VISION) “, showcases elements and areas of the ‘Grand Site de France Les Deux-Caps’, through photos taken in eight main areas along the coast. Where the artist normally seeks ‘pure nature’ in her work, she now decided to embrace the human elements in the area and combine them into some of her creations. During her visits, she constantly looked for combinations of multiple elements to work with. Weather, light, details and human interactions played an important part in that search. By focusing on her vision, she created a portrait of the area that is different from the traditional iconic shots you would normally see. Double Vue was created with in-camera double exposure. --------Want to see more: DOUBLE VUE | DOUBLE VISION by KRISTEL SCHNEIDER will be exhibited from May to November 2023, at Maison du Site des Deux-Caps, La Sence, 62179 Audinghen, France. --------FUNDED EXHIBITION by: Department Pas-de-Calais Les Deux-Caps

5 images–A Cross-Continental Photography Journey. I’m excited to introduce CONTRAST, a collaborative project with Argentine photographer Adriana Sanz. This project challenges us to step beyond our creative boundaries and explore a world we haven’t captured before—deep-rooted traditions, adaptations to climate change, and the human connection to livestock and the land. CONTRAST is a cross-continental photographic project that documents traditional agricultural life in two vastly different regions: Auvergne, France, and Chubut, Patagonia. These landscapes couldn’t be more different—the rolling hills and volcanic terrain of Auvergne versus the vast, wind-swept plains of Chubut—but both regions share a profound agricultural heritage shaped by time, seasons, and cultural traditions. We will first work individually in our own regions, capturing rural life and the significance of these farming practices. Later, we will travel to each other’s regions to experience the contrasts and similarities firsthand. This exchange will not only enrich our creative process but also deepen our understanding of the broader agricultural landscape. This project takes us out of our comfort zones. It tells a new story—of people, traditions, and landscapes intertwined. A story of contrasts, resilience, and the evolving rhythms of rural life. Over the next three/four years, we’ll be sharing stories, insights, and behind-the-scenes moments—fragments that define CONTRAST. >>>> Stay tuned—I can’t wait to take you along on this journey!
